Supplements to Increase Male Fertility

About 15% of all couples have difficulty conceiving. However, infertility research and treatment continues to provide couples with the chance to increase their fertility so they can start or build a family.

Many couples look for ways to increase fertility with natural supplements, like over-the-counter vitamins and herbal products.

While Dallas- Fort Worth Fertility Associates supports the use supplement products others, especially some herbal remedies, are not recommended by our fertility specialists. Over-the-counter or non-prescription supplements are available online or through select health stores in the US. These supplements are thought to increase sperm health and quality and when used in conjunction with medical fertility care can help couples conceive.

Below is a list of supplements that Dallas Fort Worth Fertility Associates may recommend to our patients:

FertilAid
FertilAid for men is an all-natural supplement that has shown a “significant improvement” in the number of motile sperm, or “total normal sperm motility”… suggesting an increased odds of pregnancy. Some of the active ingredients include zinc, antioxidants, grapeseed extract, Maca root, and ginseng.

ProXeed Plus
ProXeed Plus is a men’s fertility powder supplement that can be dissolved in water or juice. ProXeed focuses on providing sperm with enough energy to fertilize an egg, as well as increasing overall sperm quality to increase changes of pregnancy. Ingredients include zinc, selenium, B12, and more. The powder has a light lemon flavor and can be taken three times per day.

Coast Science Fertile One®
Male Fertility supplement from Coast Science improves sperm count, motility (movement), shape, and quality. According to the website, a “study suggests that the use of Fertile One® may reduce sperm DNA damage in men with markedly elevated DNA damage. While the reduction in damage was modest, there was significant improvement in nearly one-half of cases.” FertileOne® contains B vitamins, Relora®, Folic Acid, and more.

It should be noted that supplements must be taken for at least 30 days before seeing marked results. In addition, men should also consult with their fertility healthcare provider before beginning a supplement regimen. Besides supplements, there are many other things a man can do to increase his fertility, including maintaining a healthy lifestyle, not smoking, and avoiding pesticides and other toxins.
